Horror 3d asset pack (June 2026)
A downloadable asset pack
Heavily delayed for many reasons. Was hoping once for early fall 2025 - September - but ambition keeps growing even as most of you just want it 'done' and posted.
Sadly, it now looks like the very end of June 2026. Just in time for the July sale I'm setting up to coincide with at least part of the itch summer sale event.

The form of this intended earlier had over 40 assets. This version - a revised plan - has 64 different distinct objects planned out and at this moment 62 of 64 are completed. So now I'm down to the last 2 items and it's FINALLY REALLY CLOSE.
I'm now aiming for release June 29-30, 2026 - before July. (Next 48hrs)
Update - last two items now fully built and textured. But it is now early morning of July 1. I will try to export all 3d formats of these things today, have this posted before the sale starts on July 2. So by tonight hopefully? I have all this in .FBX and need the .OBJ and .GLB exports done, files organized. But it is really close now and I am excited to see the response to it during the sale event and after it ends too. Under three hours work left at this point. Incidentally, family in another house locally recently saw AC go out. So they may converge on my house this week. I will try to stay focused and wrap this up today regardless.

I'm also making a beer bottle object and a variant bandage. The first aid bandage has a clean rolled up/ unrolled clean/bloody version but also now will have a version that's reshaped, so it can be added to the bottle and combined with the 'flame' item animation that is also related to 'gas can' and 'bonfire' to form a molotov cocktail object if game devs want that to be a weapon. Plus the various guns, knives and ammo items, and other surprise stuff - hammer and nails, chainsaw, screwdriver/screws, boards that in theory a game creator could combine, tack onto a structure built from the other modular structure segments to defend it, etc. Crowbar, axe, bear trap, radio / broken cell phone... lots of stuff here. So it now fully earns the 'survival horror' tag and includes a full arsenal of objects to fight monsters with. And the modular sturcture stuff, fences, barbed wire metal and wood, etc, the shelving for storage of gear, and crafting table, a somewhat nasty little cot too in case you have sleep/rest as a mechanic.

This pack aims to cater to horror and survival-horror game developers. Indie films and indie games aim for the horror genre a lot, for good reason. Itch.IO especially loves the category so it was only a matter of time before I planned out a 3d asset pack for the genre.
The initial release was more environmental and lacking in supply and weapon stuff, focused on spooky forest / graveyard settings as well as the classic cabin in a remote area and a few nasty weapons. Axes, chainsaws, etc.

Trying to build a stronger collection at the outset delayed this by a bit. This has gone from a roster of 35 in initial list to over 60 items and that explains most of the delay.
But if this goes at all well I could imagine adding more distinct areas and modular stuff to build them out as themed updates. A carnival and clowns, a dingy motel, a hospital / asylum, a creaky Victorianesque haunted house, a decaying bunker or underwater base, space station, etc... lots of settings are used in the horror genre and that means even after release the range of options for expanding the pack will be substantial.
As a further note, I now see a positive review for this asset pack despite its currently unreleased status.
That puzzled me at first - why rate something that isn't yet available? - but it makes sense in a way as it is a sort of show of support for development of this collection. A lot of the most popular itch games are horror themed so it is clear people here would like more material of that type.
On the plus side, one of the earlier parts of this I did involved using a white paint pen on black paper, forming some hand drawn cobwebs that I felt looked... not real entirely, but appropriately icky and messy with the sort of details that'd work between surfaces as decals using the alpha channel of the PNGs in a 3d scene. Other items will be showcased with a few renders in the next few days leading up to the full pack becoming completed and available for download. Sorry about the severity of the delays here and elsewhere and thank you all for how patient you have been and continue to be as this approaches completion.

I had a whole depressed aside here about the world falling apart and my own health issues. Which turned out not to be as bad as feared. I'm now erasing that. It looks like my health's okay and while I was thinking this could be an early-June 2026 thing now end of June 2026 due to some gigs I was hired to do at rates of around $12-16/hr in early June. Those absorbed over three full weeks and will have major impact on a lot of other things that have been on hold for a long time and can now move forward. Only now, however, as of June 26, 2026, am I returning to wrap this horror pack work up.
Here is a teaser image relating to those freebies.

That cobwebs free download is already available. You can use those as decals right now at no cost. It's one of a handful of freebies scattered between the mostly $1 asset packs I have available. And ALL these many asset packs get bundled at around 95% off or roughly $1 during sale events, of which July 4th is next. So that's 5000+ asset files - PBR seamless textures, decals, VFX video and many, many 3d models in different categories, in FBX, OBJ and GLB formats.
Plus take a look at the free blood pack on my main page, I just recently updated that and it is horror relevant. It was put online right before some internet issues started occurring. That connection stuff was resolved a while back but the sale day was over by time it was, and I began adding more stuff to the plan then so now it's all getting pushed back to end of June 2026, as described earlier.

Hey, I really like how honest you are about both the scope and the delays - that’s something a lot of us can relate to. That mix of locations (forest, graveyard, isolated cabin, later maybe hospital or space station) is basically several separate biomes inside a single product, so the hardest part is probably going to be keeping a consistent style across all of that.
I work on horror environments myself and from experience it helps a lot to treat the first release as a tight core: a polished forest/graveyard combo with a few strong hero assets, and then add the other locations later as clearly labeled themed updates. It makes it easier for devs to understand what they’re actually getting, and it lets you keep quality and pace under control.
Thank you for your input and for being understanding of the issues I have recently faced.
Yes, the first release will be the forest / graveyard setting and other areas will appear in the early months of 2026 as updates, and everything will be organized in different subfolders as it arrives so it shouldn't be too hard for people who have the collection to find what's relevant to them in it.
The first set of material is pretty much done right now as of quite recently along with three other unrelated things, and the plan is to launch all of that in just under 48 hours, around the time the bundle sale begins. December 24th, that afternoon.
It is odd seemingly to push things back by a few days - why not release immediately the moment it is all done? - but though some aspects of itch's algorithm seem a bit vague it appears that the week or so after a release or update offer higher ranking in search, and increased visibility right at that time. So if the release is *right before* the peak of itch holiday sales, when a sale discount also is accessible on my shop, that seems likely to boost public awareness of the collections. Maybe help people find this package I just spent a ton of time building.
And everything I've got is quite inexpensive during those types of events so hopefully volume of activity can compensate a bit for the lower end pricing per sale made.
And ideally these packages once widely seen and priced low, prove useful to a lot of small developers. Maybe I will see some of this material showing up in some imaginative indie games here, which would be great.
Really love how clearly you laid all of this out. There’s something oddly comforting about reading someone else wrestle with timing and scope instead of just smashing the publish button the second the last asset is “kinda done”. I end up in that “ok, basically finished... but also not really” state way too often, so the way you’re framing the delay feels a lot more intentional than just a stumble. In that light, pushing things by a few days really does read like strategy.
I also really like the idea of the forest / graveyard set being the first chunk of the path, with the other locations growing out of it over 2026 instead of everything shouting for attention on day one. With the kind of folder structure you described, it’s easy to picture people just diving in, grabbing what fits their scenes and getting to work without digging through a mess of directories. And the lower pricing during sales sounds like it nudges folks toward experimenting rather than overthinking if it will “pay off”. Hopefully the bundle timing lines up, the algorithm is in a decent mood, and we start seeing these spaces pop up in all sorts of strange little horror projects here and there, instead of only living forever as a “nice collection in the editor”.
You're right, it's now past September and I am *still* working on getting this wrapped up with a first batch of about 35 unique assets. I'm really sorry about the delay here. There's not really a valid excuse for it aside from just the rotation between seven other asset packs I'm rotating between, both updates to existing packs and planned added releases like Middle East, etc that themselves have people asking for launch soon.
I am now really close, should have a release ready within a few days though. Probably by Oct. 15 or 16. Definitely a while before Halloween. Halloween is absolutely critical as a target for a horror collection I think, it has to be in place before then. And I realize this pack in particular is of value to the horror focused community on itch. I want to get it done well.
But ultimately maybe it's best to have something out by then even if it's not as complete a start as I intended. I might shave off one or two objects from my queue just to get this out in the next 3-4 days. Because it's definitely behind schedule at this point.
Hi man, we passed september already
Interesting looking assets. Great work.
